American Heroes Equine Connection, Inc. (AHEC, Inc) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to helping veterans, first responders, and their families heal through connection, purpose, and equine-based experiences. Our programs use horsemanship, relationship-building, and structured activities to support those facing PTSD, stress, and life transitions. By working with horses, participants rebuild trust, confidence, and communication often rediscovering their voice in the process. American Heroes Equine Connection exists to serve those who have served, creating a safe, grounded environment where healing, resilience, and community can grow.

American Heroes Equine Connection, Inc. exists because too many veterans and first responders are asked to carry invisible wounds alone. We don’t offer quick fixes or one-size fits all solutions. We create space safe, grounded, and intentional where healing can begin through connection, trust, and purpose. All activities are designed to be safe, accessible, and guided by experienced facilitators. <h3>Is this therapy or clinical treatment?</h3>American Heroes Equine Connection provides equine based support and experiential programs, not clinical or medical treatment. Our work complements rather than replaces—traditional mental health care. <h3>How do horses help with healing?</h3>Horses are highly perceptive and respond honestly to human behavior and emotion. Working with them helps participants build self-awareness, trust, confidence, communication, and emotional regulation in a natural, non-judgmental environment. <h3>Is this program safe?</h3>Yes. Safety is a top priority. All activities are structured, supervised, and conducted in a controlled environment with appropriate safeguards in place. <h3>How long are the programs?</h3>Program length varies depending on the activity and participant needs. We currently offer individual and group-based experiences, with plans to expand into longer-format programs as resources allow. <h3>What does it cost to participate?</h3>Many programs are low-cost or sponsored through donations and grants. Our goal is to reduce financial barriers so those who need support can access it. <h3>How is American Heroes Equine Connection funded?</h3>We are funded through donations, sponsorships, grants, and community support.
